Auction Items Coming In!

Things are starting to fall into place with the Corndog Kickoff Benefit Auction just over a month away! Auction items are beginning to pile up in the office, filling every extra inch of space that is not used on a daily basis. There are paintings, wood carvings, donations from local businesses across Iowa, spa products, laundry products, home decor, kitchen items, and even a football signed by the Packers! (Even if none of those things sound awesome to you, we promise there is something at this auction that will interest you!) We can’t wait for everyone to see all that we have to offer on July 9. One auction item that we look forward to every year are the pillows made by Karen Brockelsby. Karen has been donating these pillows for years, and each year we eagerly await the drop off so we can all check out the beautiful patterns. This year there are 30 unique pillows that she created, all of them Iowa State Fair themed. In fact, they are even made out of t-shirts, some of them from the Iowa State Fair Store itself! From an ‘In Corndogs We Trust’ pillow to a pillow featuring the winning ‘We’re Back’ t-shirt design from last year to a fun multi-colored pillow that looks like the spin art you can create at the Fair, you’re sure to find one pillow that encompasses your favorite parts of the Iowa State Fair among the pillows Karen makes.

This year, on top of the 30 pillows she created, Karen also donated a house divided quilt. If one of the biggest days of the year for your family is the annual Cy-Hawk football game, this one is for you! Half of the quilt is full of Iowa Hawkeye logos and the other half is filled with Iowa State Cyclone logos. The back of the quilt is a plush yellow to match both schools. We are so thankful for Karen’s dedication and gift of her time and talent to the Blue Ribbon Foundation.
